Test details

HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus and HIV infection causes AIDS in humans. HIV 1 and HIV2 Antibody Test is done to detect the presence of HIV-1 or HIV-2 infections in the body.

Test required for

HIV virus causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). HIV antibody, RNA (viral load) tests and HIV test is used to diagnose HIV infections. The screening test for HIV infection is enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). It detects HIV antibodies and antigens in the blood. According to NACO, the samples are tested by three different methods before the release of report. The next step includes the confirmation of results with a Western Blot Test.
